It's the first time that a novice spaniel trial has been held on this ground and luckily the keeper had gone to the trouble of cutting strips in the rushes and bracken. The trial was over by 1pm with the winner being Simon Dixon with his young dog ' Chance '. This will be the first winner for his Dawsonlee prefix. Bob Crowther got 2nd ( bob won his next trial at grassington with this bitch. Bob has run in 4 trials this year and gained 3 firsts and a 2nd. ) 3rd was Jim Clarke. Steve Charlton's black and white bitch by FTCH Whitehope liquorice out of Edwardiana Tawny would have got gun's choice as it hunted an excellent back wind beat with little interference from Steve.
